I fitted one about a year ago after a fouled saildrive intake caused the plastimo water lock hose-tails to melt, block and burst the hose off, filling the boat with water- Since then it gives a simple indication of running temp when it's worth drying out to check the fouling. Very happy and wouldn't be without a relatively low cost peace of mind, sounding an alarm when there are problems with intake blockages, gradual fouling, a failed pump belt or impeller failure.
